Our plumber will come to your home and install an automatic gas shut-off valve at your gas meter. More cities and counties are requiring that a valve like this be installed on new construction and when a home sells.
Why? Because it’s not just a way of “encouraging” people to save their homes, it has repercussions for entire neighborhoods. A house that goes up in flames increases the possibility of neighboring houses catching fire.
Imagine your peace of mind in knowing that, if a major quake hits while you are away from home, the valve will automatically shut off your gas supply. Many homes have been destroyed by fire when a quake snaps a gas line in the house.
This is not a job for a handyman! In most cases, someone will need to be home when we do the installation: our plumber will need to re-light any gas appliance pilot lights after the installation.
The valve we install is the “Little Firefighter,” which is approved by the State of California. Over the past 16 years, we have installed over 4,500 valves in the SF bay area. Learn about The Little Firefighter at: littlefirefighter.com
Our standard installed price in the East Bay (including valve & labor) is $305 for a 3/4″ valve – slightly higher elsewhere (depending upon driving distance). About 85-90% of residential valves are 3/4″.
