| The Last of “After Quake” Tips: Part 3 of 3 |
| 1. Don’t go sightseeing. Many roads closed. Don’t drive unless there is a genuine emergency. Keep the streets clear for emergency vehicles. 2. Prepare for aftershocks. Although most of these are smaller than the main shock, some may be strong enough to cause additional damage. 3. Discuss plans with family members, friends, significant others NOW -what each person plans to do when a major quake hits. Info about the welfare of separated family members will be handled by the American Red Cross. Do not call or go to the police or fire department for this information. If you have an emergency communications plan in place, use it. 4. Check on shut-in, elderly, or disabled neighbors. Stay safe.
